Broom Ball - In My Kitchen!

Look at that action! Watch out dust bunnies!

Karl had another broom ball game this Sunday. Heidi really wanted to go play too. Sadly, it was nap time, so Daddy played a quick game with her in the kitchen. The ice wasn't there, but they made up for it with plenty of action.

She Eats!

I don't know why this picture showed up, I had tried to add a different one, but ow I can't get it off.

MMM, let me hold it Mom!

Side note: this is the day I got my hair cut, and really the only pictures I have of my new bangs and shorter hair, that's another story in itself!

Converting to solids wasn't exactly an easy go with my strong willed first born. We finally went "cold turkey" when, at 14 months, she still wouldn't take anything from spoon or cup. After two very exhausting days of her refusing to eat or drink anything and me feeling like the worst mama on earth, I finally won. I approached starting Hannah on solids this last month with a bit of trepidition. Would she be as attatched to Mama as much as big sister was? Needless to say. I was thrilled when my little girl dug right in, and enjoyed it! Now I just need to learn which foods to add when. By the time I finally got Heidi eating, she was ready for a lot more than Hannah is now! I'm hoping for a much more gradual weaning process this time around.

Hannah, err... George

Just so you are all aware, I no longer have a daughter named Hannah. No, my delightful firstborn informs me, her young sibling is now "a little boy named George". To ensure that I don't get confused, I am often reminded "name is George, Mama, GEORGE". To further assist her ever forgetful mother, Heidi refuses to respond or act like she has any idea what I'm talking about if I mistakingly use the name Hannah. I ask Heidi to pick up a toy for Hannah, no response. I remind her she needs to obey, shoulders go up, hands in the air, "but no Hannah Mama". Oh, "Would you please pick up George's toy?" And right away, my um, little boy, has a toy.

Words

Karl gently informed me last night that he felt my blog had plenty of pictures... and maybe not so many words as it should have. Looking it over I can see that he's right. I have been a little picture happy. I explained why this had occurred, and made him laugh, so I'll share my reasoms with you as well. First, there is a certain Grandma who lives many miles away and has had to make do with my very sporadic sending of images of her grandaughters to her. I finally found a way to let her see what they look like today. Second, I rarely have time to sit at the computer unless I'm nursing. So, I usually only have one free hand, and it's much easier to add pictures than it is to type one handed. I'll start working on those one handed typing skills though, and try to come up with a better balance of both words and pictures.

Labor of Love

My parents drove from California to be with us when Hannah was born last August. While they were here, My Daddy gave me the incredible gift of cabinets in my kitchen. These pictures don't do them justice, but isn't he amazing?!

Everything's dark, I'm not really sure why. And even though I rotated the pictures of Heidi helping Papa, they went back the way they were. I guess I still have lots to learn on here

This is the way my kitchen used to look - although I generally didn't have everything from the cabinets being worked on on top of the counter. I'm thrilled to be able to put everything out of sight (it helps keep it all from being pulled out by little helpers) and I think my kitchen now looks incredible! Thankyou Daddy!!!!

Harvest

I like winter. I really do. I think it's beautiful even. After a few months of it, however, even I start to dream of warmer weather (you know, anything that doesn't make your nose hairs freeze when you inhale). So today, I decided to share some pictures from last summer. Here's Heidi checking out Daddy's combine in the middle of the oat harvest. Much too exciting for words!

Daddy Daughter Music Making

Daddy's music is a bit more melodic, but they both have fun!
